2015 Schroeder Hall Concerts

All concerts listed below are free and open to the public.

Please join us for an evening of complimentary wine tasting while mingling with our Artists in Residence, followed by a free concert, on Tuesdays and Thursdays during our festival. Wine tasting begins at 5:30pm on the patio and is followed promptly by a performance at 6pm in the hall. See below for specific concert programs.

Tuesday, July 28 | 6:00PM: Our Artist in Residence piano trio, Longleash—Pala Garcia, violin; John Popham, cello; and Renate Rohlfing, piano—presents Charles Ives’ Piano Trio. Join us for a fun, interactive exploration of this trio, culminating in a performance of the entire work.

Thursday, July 30 | 6:00PM: Guest Artist Kara Sainz, mezzo-soprano, and Artist in Residence Peter Dugan, piano, present a program entitled Mysticism.

  • Schumann “Ghost” Variations for solo piano
  • Glück “Jupiter, lance la foudre” from Iphigenie en Aulide
  • Liza Lehmann “There are Fairies at the Bottom of our Garden”
  • Leonardo Dugan The Life and Death of Joan Arc

Tuesday, August 4 | 6:00PMComposer in Residence Paul Frucht presents an interactive concert of his works and also introduces our Young Composer program winner

  • In Wind (commissioned by pianoSonoma and premiered at the 2014 festival) performed by Emi Ferguson, flute; Pala Garcia, violin; John Popham, cello; Renate Rohlfing, piano
  • Piano Trio (commissioned by pianoSonoma and premiered on August 2, 2015 in Weill Hall) performed by Longleash: Pala Garcia, violin; John Popham, cello; Renate Rohlfing, piano
  • Young Composer program winning piece
  • World premiere of The Three States of Relativity, song cycle performed by Kara Sainz, mezzo-soprano, and Peter Dugan, piano

Thursday, August 6 | 6:00PMArtist in Residence Emi Ferguson, flute; Peter Dugan, piano; and Renate Rohlfing, piano

  • Roussel Jouers de flüte
  • Messiaen Le merle noir
  • Franck Sonata in A Major for Piano and Flute
  • And a Showpiece by Emi Ferguson
